Pixie is like a miniature version of the maple Acer palmatum Bloodgood. Pixie is a nice red leaf dwarf maple that has leaves very similar to Bloodgood in that they are a bright red in spring gradually changing to deep red throughout the summer and bright scarlet in autumn. Pixie is one of Mendocino Maples favorite red leafed Japanese maples. Pixie will grow to about 6 -7' high and about 6-7' wide. Sun with afternoon shade in hot climates. Pixie is cold hardy and can handle down to zone 5, -15° F.
Acer circinatum Dels Dwarf
Del's Dwarf is a very colorful circinatum that emerges bronze and orange in the spring. Leaves are smaller than the species and perhaps thicker. Smaller than the species but similar habit with multiple branching. Brilliant Orange and Red fall color. Very hardy Dwarf to 6 feet in 10 years. Sun /part shade. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
Acer circinatum Pacific Fire
Pacific Fire is my favorite cultivar of Acer circinatum. Pacific Fire has flaming red bark in the winter that dazzles in the landscape with color. The orange - red bark has a waxy sheen to it that really makes the bark shine. Nice bronzing of the leaves when placed in full sun. A multibranching shrub/tree like the species but slower growing. Fall color is bright yellows with some orange which really make a show against the firery bark! 10 feet in 8 years. . Holds up well in the sun and heat... tends to become even more beautiful in the full sun. Will burn in extreme heat (> 90°) Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
Acer shirasawanum Autumn Moon has spring foliage which is an unusual pink orange color with an underlying shade of chartruese green. Colors up nicely in full sun with more orange. Like the Full Moon Maple, Autumn moon is a very showy maple. It is more hardy and vigorous than the Full Moon Maple A. s. 'Aureum'. Fall color is a rich orange and red. This small tree seems to stand heat well. 12 feet in 10 years. Sun /part shade.
A. japonicum Aconitifolium ‘Dancing Peacock’
The Acer japonicum Aconitifolium or Dancing Peacock has thickly dissected green leaves give this maple the general appearance that a multitude of peacocks are dancing on the limb. Fantastic performer in the fall as leaves display brilliant scarlet tones with oranges and giving the appearance of flames. Attractive crimson-colored seeds. Aconitifolium means finely cut leaves. Hardy growing to 14 feet. Sun/part shade. 12-24 " 1 gallon plants ordered now will be shipped in Early Spring – we want the roots to grow out a tad more before we ship them.
