      These trees are green leafed species maples. That is they are seedlings of the genus Acer palmatum. They are beautiful in their own way all slightly different from one another. They are often hardier than cultivars and make a great choice for the gardener that is looking for a japanese maple for the first time. They are great for multiple plantings in the landscape or bonsai. Spring time color is light green with flecks of red from the leaf buds. As summer progresses the leaves turn a darker shade of green. Fall brings bright oranges and reds to the leaves. Very hardy. Under optimum conditions this tree can grow 30 feet high or more.

      Acer rubescens is a wonderful snake bark maple. Leaves emerge in the spring shiny and glossy. As the the trees mature they tend to have gorgeous spring flower displays. Snake bark maples have striations in their bark that add a very nice contrast to the background green bark. This beautiful maple is very rare and is native to the mountain forests of Taiwan.

      Acer crataegifolium
      Acer crataegifolium is a small maple tree native to Japan. Acer crataegifolium is in the snake bark group of maples and hence has white striations in the bark (inconspicuous). The deep green leaves are oval with 3-5 slight shallow lobes. Fall colors are filled with yellows and oranges. This lovely maple will grow to about 24' but often less. Sun/part shade

      Acer mono (A.K.A. pictum) is a fast growing tree which will reach up to 25 feet. Acer mono has very nice wide leaves that are shiny green in the summer and turn yellow orange to scarlet red in the fall. The fall colors can be so unique that the tree is also known as the "Painted maple". There are a few very cool cultivars of Acer mono including A. mono Hoshiyadori and A. mono Usugumo. Acer mono is hardy and worthy of a spot in the collectors landscape.
