Aka kawa hime is a wonderful semi-dwarf palmatum with bright red bark in the winter. Aka kawa hime translates to "small red bark" in Japanese, which like the Sango Kaku, is this cultivar's main highlights. This tree has dense lime green foliage which turn golden yellow and orange winter. A. japonicum Meigetsu
Acer japonicum Meigetsu is an upright, strong grower. In the spring, the beautiful round green leaves emerge which later will become brilliant orange and red in fall. Meigetsu like all the japonicums, has reliable wonderful fall colors. The name translates to the moon in Japanese. Meigetsu prefers sun/partial shade in well-drained soil. Ultimately will become 10' tall x 5' wide in 10 years. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.

Aka shigisatsu sawa is a very nice reticulated cultivar which emerges with a beautiful unique spring color. In full sun, leaves develop a heavy tint of pink-red with contrasting dark green veins. Fall is firery orange and red. Growth to 8 feet. Sun/part shade.
