Gable Glory has a unique leaf coloration that is quite different from most other Japanese maples. These leaf colors will last into summer and will eventually change to blends of green and purple. In Fall, Gable glory is filled with vibrant oranges and reds. Gable glory is a very beautiful maple and offers year round color and interest. Abigail Rose is a wonderful dwarf Acer palmatum with variegated leaves like a miniature Alpenweiss or Higasayama, that has delicate reticulated leaves. Many leaves do not have variegation when young but as the tree matures more variegation develops. Spring color is a showy display of pinks and reds, while fall color displays brilliant orange and yellow. Abigail Rose is a small dwarf with slender twigs which will grow up to 6-feet high and 5-foot wide in 10 years. Abigail Rose is susceptible to powdery mildew and needs to be placed where there is good airflow. Does best in morning sun afternoon shade, an ideal tree for containers and areas with warmer, dry weather.

These Japanese maple trees are green leafed species maples. That is they are seedlings of the genus Acer palmatum. They are beautiful in their own way all slightly different from one another. They are often hardier than cultivars and make a great choice for the gardener that is looking for a Japanese maple for the first time. They are great for multiple plantings in the landscape or bonsai. Spring time color is light green with flecks of red from the leaf buds. As summer progresses the leaves turn a darker shade of green. Fall brings bright oranges and reds to the leaves. Very hardy. Under optimum conditions this tree can grow 30 feet high or more. Many of the trees we offer may have a small grafting scar from a failed grafting attempt.  This scar will be gone in a year or two as the tree matures.

Acer shirasawanum Autumn Moon has spring foliage which is an unusual pink orange color with an underlying shade of chartruese green. Autumn moon will color up nicely in full sun with a wonderful orange. Like the Full Moon Maple, Autumn moon is a very showy maple - it is one of our favorites. Autumn moon is more hardy and vigorous than the Full Moon Maple A. s. 'Aureum'.  Fall color is a rich orange and red. This small tree seems to stand heat well. 12 feet in 10 years. Sun /part shade.

Giant moon is a new cultivar which we are still evaluating. Very large light green orbicular leaves emerge from this japonicum with tinges of pink. The leaves as they emerge are covered with a fine hair making them silvery in appearance. Growth appears to be similar to A.j. Aconitifolium in that it is open and layering. Sun /afternoon shade.

Acer japonicum Meigetsu is an upright, strong grower. In the spring, the beautiful round green leaves emerge which later will become brilliant orange and red in fall. Meigetsu like all the japonicums, has reliable wonderful fall colors. The name translates to the moon in Japanese. Meigetsu prefers sun/partial shade in well-drained soil. Ultimately will become 10' tall x 5' wide in 10 years. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
