Aoyagi gawa is a small Japanese maple with light green leaves with long, narrow lobes. Aoyagi gawa leaves turn bright yellow in the fall. In winter the twigs and branches turn to a coral yellow-green. A very nice plant with appeal during all seasons. Very willowy and graceful. Aoyagi gawa prefers sun/partial shade in well-drained soil. This maple will grow to about 6' tall x 3' wide in 10 years. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.

Acer palmatum Pixie is like a miniature version of the Japanese maple Bloodgood. Pixie is a very nice red leaf dwarf maple that has leaves very similar to Bloodgood in that they are a bright red in spring gradually changing to deep red throughout the summer and bright scarlet in autumn. Pixie is one of Mendocino Maples favorite red leafed Japanese maples. Pixie will grow to about 6 -7 feet high and about 6-7 feet wide in 10 years. Pixie can handle a lot of sun but give afternoon shade in real hot climates. Pixie is cold hardy and can handle down to -15° F. Best suited for zones 5-9.

Acer circinatum Bort’s Broom
Bort's Broom is a very showy green Acer circinatum broom that tolerates the sun real well. It prefers morning sun and afternoon shade, but can take some hot sun - as long as its not all day. In the sun Bort's Broom green leaves bronze out to a very attractive cherry red. Borts Broom is a dwarf maple that tend to grow in a bush fashion with branching mostly basal. Like all brooms, this arose as a sport or mutation on a wild circinatum. Growth is dense and rather fast when young. Graft bulge can be present in some plants. Borts broom will grow to about 4 feet.

Del's Dwarf is a very colorful circinatum that emerges bronze and orange in the spring. Leaves are smaller than the vine maple species and perhaps thicker. Smaller than the species but similar habit with multiple branching- can form a nice rounded shrub. Del's Dwarf does not disappoint come October, bringing astounding fall colors of yellow, orange and red. This maple is a very hard dwarf, growing no more than five to six feet in 10 years. Sun /part shade is preferred. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5-9.

The leaves emerge reddish orange and them become bronze green for the summer. Baby lace becomes about 3 feet tall after about 10 years eventually forming a roundish, dense shrub.
