Acer circinatum Pacific Fire
Pacific Fire is my favorite cultivar of Acer circinatum. Pacific Fire has flaming red bark in the winter that dazzles in the landscape with color. The orange - red bark has a waxy sheen to it that really makes the bark shine. Nice bronzing of the leaves when placed in full sun. A multibranching shrub/tree like the species but slower growing. Fall color is bright yellows with some orange which really make a show against the firery bark! 10 feet in 8 years. . Holds up well in the sun and heat... tends to become even more beautiful in the full sun. Will burn in extreme heat (> 90°) Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
Acer circinatum Bort’s Broom
Bort's Broom is a very showy green Acer circinatum broom that tolerates the sun real well. It prefers mooring sun afternoon shade, but can take some hot sun - as long as its not all day. In the sun Bort's Broom green leaves bronze out to a very attractive cherry red. Borts Broom is a dwarf maple that tend to grow in a bush fashion with branching mostly basal. Like all brooms, this arose as a sport or mutation on a wild circinatum. Growth is dense and rather fast when young. Graft bulge can be present in some plants. Borts broom will grow to about 4 feet.
Aka shigisatsu sawa is a very nice reticulated cultivar which emerges with a beautiful unique spring color. In full sun, leaves develop a heavy tint of pink-red with contrasting dark green veins. Fall is firery orange and red. Growth to 8 feet. Sun/part shade.
Acer circinatum Sunglow
cer circinatum Sunglow is a gorgeous maple! Sunglow displays tones of apricot and peach as the leaves emerge in spring, fading to a lime chartruese yellow for the rest of the season. Slow growing this maple will reach 6 feet in 10 years. Morning sun with protection from hot sun is best. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
Acer circinatum Monroe
Monroe is a wonderful cultivar of our native circinatum! Leaves are big and lacey. Open and airy this plant is vigorous and spreading viney like the native. Bronzing of leaves occurs when plant is exposed to abundant sun. Fall colors of strong yellow. Strong growing to 12' . Sun/ mostly shade. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
