Shirazz is a bold Japanese Maple that has variegated leaves ranging from a blend of pinks, greens, and creamy-white. Shirazz is very similar to another maple known as Geisha Gone Wild. Both arose off the mother tree lineage (Geisha) as a sport. Spring growth emerges with bright pink purple with light pink variegation. Fall colors are tones of crimson red to scarlet. Shirazz is an upright grower at first, then becomes gracefully arching. Shirazz is fairly heat resistant. Will grow to about 10′

Acer japonicum Meigetsu is an upright, strong grower. In the spring, the beautiful round green leaves emerge which later will become brilliant orange and red in fall. Meigetsu like all the japonicums, has reliable wonderful fall colors. The name translates to the moon in Japanese. Meigetsu prefers sun/partial shade in well-drained soil. Ultimately will become 10' tall x 5' wide in 10 years. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
