Acer shirasawanum Ogurayama has light green leaves in spring change which change to a dark green but with a silvery sheen caused by the fine pubescence on the leaf surface. Leaves slightly cup inward to give an unique look. Very nice plant. RARE. Autumn color is brilliant organges and reds. Sun/ part shade.

Acer palmatum Pixie is like a miniature version of the Japanese maple Bloodgood. Pixie is a very nice red leaf dwarf maple that has leaves very similar to Bloodgood in that they are a bright red in spring gradually changing to deep red throughout the summer and bright scarlet in autumn. Pixie is one of Mendocino Maples favorite red leafed Japanese maples. Pixie will grow to about 6 -7 feet high and about 6-7 feet wide in 10 years. Pixie can handle a lot of sun but give afternoon shade in real hot climates. Pixie is cold hardy and can handle down to -15° F. Best suited for zones 5-9.

Vitifolium is a wonderful maple with an ever-changing appeal. Vitifolium has coppery orange Spring leaves which turn to deep green in summer. Late summer may have the leaves bronze into oranges and reds. Mature trees often have bright red seeds which contrast nicely with the deep green leaves of summer. Like most Japonicums, Vitifolium has spectacular fall colors of scarlet, yellow and orange on large grape-like leaves. Grows 18 feet tall and wide. Strong grower. Full sun, partial shade<

Autumn moon will color up nicely in full sun with a wonderful orange. Like the Full Moon Maple, Autumn moon is a very showy maple - it is one of our favorites. Autumn moon is more hardy and vigorous than the Full Moon Maple A. s. 'Aureum'.  Fall color is a rich orange and red. This small tree seems to stand heat well. 12 feet in 10 years. Sun /part shade. Zones 5-9.
