A. japonicum Attaryi
Medium upright tree to 20 feet or more depending on climate and culture. Very strong grower and hardy. Leaves slightly larger but not as deepely cut as A. j. Aconitifolium. Strong orange and red fall colors. Sun/ part shade
Acer circinatum Bort’s Broom
Bort's Broom is a very showy green Acer circinatum broom that tolerates the sun real well. It prefers mooring sun afternoon shade, but can take some hot sun - as long as its not all day. In the sun Bort's Broom green leaves bronze out to a very attractive cherry red. Borts Broom is a dwarf maple that tend to grow in a bush fashion with branching mostly basal. Like all brooms, this arose as a sport or mutation on a wild circinatum. Growth is dense and rather fast when young. Graft bulge can be present in some plants. Borts broom will grow to about 4 feet.
A. japonicum Giant Moon
Giant moon is a new cultivar which we are still evaluating. Very large light green orbicular leaves emerge from this japonicum with tinges of pink. The leaves as they emerge are covered with a fine hair making them silvery in appearance. Growth appears to be similar to A.j. Aconitifolium in that it is open and layering. Sun /afternoon shade.
Aka hosada is very nice new strap-leaf selection that is very sun hardy and very red. Aka hosasa tends to hold it’s color better than any other Linearlobium and even in mid summer heat. A small upright maple to about 6-8'. Zones 6-9.
A. japonicum O isami
O isami is a very nice Japonicum with habits similar to the genus - Open and spreading. Large orbicular green leaves turn brilliant fall colors of yellow to orange to red! Upright and sturdy growing. Oisami will reach to about 12-15 ' in 10 years.
