Aratama is an Acer palmatum witches’ broom (a plant derived from a proliferation of shoots growing close together) with bright red new growth that matures to a deeper purple-red. Aratama in Japanese translates to “uncut gem”. If planted in the shade, leaves revert to bronze-green. A beautiful and strong growing dwarf that produces a compact plant in time, making it a great option for a potted plant. This tree will grow a maximum of 5 feet in 10 years. Takes full sun well.
