Aka kawa hime is a wonderful semi-dwarf palmatum with bright red bark in the winter. Aka kawa hime translates to "small red bark" in Japanese, which like the Sango Kaku, is this cultivar's main highlights. This tree has dense lime green foliage which turn golden yellow and orange winter. A. japonicum Giant Moon
Giant moon is a new cultivar which we are still evaluating. Very large light green orbicular leaves emerge from this japonicum with tinges of pink. The leaves as they emerge are covered with a fine hair making them silvery in appearance. Growth appears to be similar to A.j. Aconitifolium in that it is open and layering. Sun /afternoon shade.
