Acer palmatum Hanezu hagomoro is the yellow-orange selection of the Hagomoro group of cultivars. Hagoromo means feathered which describes the shape of the leaves. Hanezu hagomoro is a bright sunny yellow with rays of orange in the spring. In summer the leaves turn a pleasing light green and finally in fall turn yellow. Hanezu hagoromo is upright and somewhat narrow in form like the other hagomoro Acers. Growth to about 6' in 10 years. Rare and unusual.

A dwarf maple, Lima Gold has a dense form with tiny seven-lobed leaves are yellow-green in spring and summer, then turn to straw yellow in autumn. Lima Gold does best with part shade in hot climates. Mendocino Momiji is an exciting new cultivar that we are releasing into the trade after considerable evaluation for close to 10 years. Mendocino Momiji is in the matsumurae group with deeply divided medium sized leaves. Leaves emerge in spring a wonderful peachy orange color with purplish petioles. As summer progresses the leaves pick up a blush of red on the light green leaves. Fall color is intense orange and red. A wonderful small growing tree mounding to about 5’ by 6' in 10 years. It is hardy and can handle medium intense sun. Mendocino Momiji emerged as a seedling from a parent scolopendrofolium tree.

Mikawa Yatsubusa is a hardy green leaved dwarf Japanese maple whose leaves are spaced closely together on short, stubby shoots. "Mikawa yatsubusa" in Japanese translates to "a small cluster of three rivers." A nod to the overlapping clustered leaves, which gives this maple a very unique appearance. Mikawa Yatsubusa has very nice branching habit. Fall colors are yellow orange to red. Moderate to slow growing. Very cool - one of our favorites! Mikawa Yatsubusa reaches 4 feet in 10 years. Acer shirasawanum Moonrise is a wonderful cousin to A. s. Full Moon and A. s. Autumn Moon. It is similar in leaf shape to both the Full Moon Maple and the Autumn moon but has a greater display of colors throughout the seasons.  In spring the leaves emerge with an orange-red blush turning to a summer leaf color that is very similar to A. s. Aureum or A. s. Autumn Moon. Moonrise can handle the heat better than other Acer shirasawanums. Very nice and showy!  Growth to 6-8' tall.

Growth habits appear to be similar to Aka shigitatsu saw - that is - Semi slow growing and weeping in habit. Olsen's Frosted Strawberry will reach about 6 feet in 10 years. The pine bark has bark very similar to the Japanese black pine, hence the name. Nishiki gawa's rough bark forms sooner and becomes more pronounced than that of similar Arakawa. Pixie is a very nice red leaf dwarf maple that has leaves very similar to Bloodgood in that they are a bright red in spring gradually changing to deep red throughout the summer and bright scarlet in autumn. Pixie is one of Mendocino Maples favorite red leafed Japanese maples. Pixie will grow to about 6 -7 feet high and about 6-7 feet wide in 10 years.
