Higasayama has fantastic spring display! Unique spring buds open with colors of yellow and red unfolding multi-colored with deep green, cream and pink. In summer Higasayama leaf color changes to deep green veins with cream outline. Higasayama is a very unique and desirable Japanese maple. Higasayama has an upright twiggy growth habit to 18 feet tall. Variegation often is not present in young plants – it will develop as the tree matures (within a year or two). Prefers Sun/ part shade in hot climates. Zone 5
