      Ruby Red

      Ruby Red

      $34.99 – $84.99

Ruby Red is a very nice cultivar that holds its’ red very well. The leaf shape is similar to Aka Omote, but Ruby Red tends to have more pubescence on the tems and leaves. Stems tend to have a shiny sheen to them like Aka omote. For the time being I am placing it with shirasawanums until more evidence suggests otherwise. Growth to about 12′.

Acer palmatum Pixie is like a miniature version of the Japanese maple Bloodgood. Pixie is a very nice red leaf dwarf maple that has leaves very similar to Bloodgood in that they are a bright red in spring gradually changing to deep red throughout the summer and bright scarlet in autumn. Pixie is one of Mendocino Maples favorite red leafed Japanese maples. Pixie will grow to about 6 -7' high and about 6-7' wide. Pixie can handle a lot of sun but give afternoon shade in real hot climates. Pixie is cold hardy and can handle down to zone 5,  -15° F.

      Acer circinatum Pacific Fire

      Out of stock

      Acer circinatum Pacific Fire
Pacific Fire is my favorite cultivar of Acer circinatum. Pacific Fire has flaming red bark in the winter that dazzles in the landscape with color. The orange - red bark has a waxy sheen to it that really makes the bark shine. Nice bronzing of the leaves when placed in full sun. A multibranching shrub/tree like the species but slower growing. Fall color is bright yellows with some orange which really make a show against the firery bark! 10 feet in 8 years. . Holds up well in the sun and heat... tends to become even more beautiful in the full sun. Will burn in extreme heat (> 90°) Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
