These are 1 gallon Acer palmatum rootstock that have scaring from failed grafts that would be a great start for a bonsai because they have some caliper. Scaring from unsuccessful grafts create a gnarled out bark look that also makes them great for bonsai. Very reasonably priced. May be a misshaped tree - ready for your hand at restructuring.

Seigen
Seigen is very nice small-leaved, delicate-looking plant with scarlet-red color in the spring. Leaves change to a blend of green and bronze in summer. Fall color is a mixture of bright orange-yellow. Plant is similar to Shindesojo but perhaps less susceptible to powdery mildew. Leaves often have Fu (speckled variegation). Height to 10' in eight years. Sun/ part shade

This Acer palmatum Sharps Pygmy Japanese maple is ideal for Bonsai since the grafting scars are minimal and very low. The Sharps Pygmy has small leaves that make it ideal for bonsai. Summertime foliage is a pleasing green. Fall colors will range from yellow orange to finally red. This maple is a 2-3 yrs old, 1 gallon plant. Sharps pygmy is a dwarf that if planted out in the landscape will reach about 3-4′.
