Acer ‘White Tigress’
The White Tigress maple is considered to be by some the most striking of the snakebark maples. Bright white striations against a bright green bark is truly a sight. White Tigress is a cultivar that is often described as a hybrid, possibly A. davidii x A. tegmentosum. Some consider it the most heat tolerant of the snakebark maples. Ruby Red is a very nice cultivar that holds its' red very well. The leaf shape is similar to Aka Omote, but Ruby Red tends to have more pubescence on the tems and leaves. Stems tend to have a shiny sheen to them like Aka omote. For the time being I am placing it with shirasawanums until more evidence suggests otherwise. Growth to about 12'.
