Fjellheim
Fjellheim is a maple that arose from a witches'-broom growing on Sango kaku, the Coral Bark Japanese maple. Hence, it forms a compact tree like tree much like the popular Coral Bark but smaller. Fjellheim has the same wonderful bark color and yellow Fall color as Sango kaku, Fjellheim will remain a dwarf growing only 5 feet or so. It is great for the small garden or containers.
Fjellheim can be difficult to grow in wet areas - be sure to have good drainage in your soil if you intend to grow this wonderful maple. Fjellheim can have a tough time growing when weather is cold and wet in the spring for days - weeks at a time.
