Acer sieboldianum Sode-no-uchi is a gorgeous small maple with bright green leaves. Brilliant fall colors make this maple spectacular in the fall. Sode-no-uchi will form a small roundish tree to about 8′ in 12 years.
Acer palmatum X Morton is rather new to us, But it is winning us over rapidly as a very very nice maple. Morton has an upright open, graceful appearance. Morton has large palmate leaves emerge coppery and red then turn green to coppery-red again in Summer. It is reported to be a cross between A. palmatum and A. circinatum and is from the Morton Arboretum. Morton is very hardy and strong growing - seems to be a medium sized tree - maybe 15' ? Acer davidii is often a mult-istemmed snakebark tree up to 25 feet in height. A. davidii grows vigorously when young, with bark striped in beautiful white stripes. Native to China, it was given the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit in 1984. It is easy to grow and deserves a place in your landscape. Sun or shade.
The Seiryu Japanese maple is a classy upright growing form of the dissectum Acer palmatum maples. Seiryu is a very sturdy and lovely plant with bright green leaves tipped with red in spring. Seiryu has fantastic fall color with leaves turning yellow orange to red. Seiryu is a very nice hardy plant despite it's delicate appearance. Will reach 12 feet in 10 years. Sun / or part shade
Acer pseudoplatanus Leopoldii
Bold splashes of creamy yellow variegation make this broad leaf maple exciting. Acer pseudoplatanus Leopoldii is a spectacular full sized tree that is a standout in the landscape. Given the Royal Horticultural Societies First Class Certificate in 1865 and Award of Garden Merit in 1993. Fall color nice golden yellows. Hardy and strong growing to 40' or more. Sun/ part shade.
A. japonicum Aka Omote
Aka Omote is an exciting maple! Aka Omote's orbicular leaves emerge red and keep the color throughout much of the spring, the leaves then fade to a dark emerald color. Aka omote leaves will often take on various shades of red when exposed to the sun. Young stems are somewhat shiny due to the coating of oils that the plant produces. Fall color is bright oranges and reds. Like many japonicums, Aka Omote is a strong grower. 10' in five years. Sun/part shade.
