Ruby Stars, also known as Beni hoshi, is an Acer palmatum that develops bright red leaves in the spring changing to green in the summer with the second flush opening deep red over a dark green background. The closely spaced, star-shaped leaves change to yellow and orange in the autumn. In Japanese, "Beni" means "red and "Hoshi" means star, giving this maple an apt name for its red star shaped leaves. This is a very beautiful upright dwarf variety, growing no more than 6 feet tall in 15 years, making it a perfect container plant. Fall color in brilliant yellows and reds. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
