Aka Omote is an exciting maple! Aka Omote's orbicular leaves emerge red and keep the color throughout much of the spring, the leaves then fade to a dark emerald color. Aka omote leaves will often take on various shades of red when exposed to the sun. Young stems are somewhat shiny due to the coating of oils that the plant produces. Fall color is bright oranges and reds. Like many japonicums, Aka Omote is a strong grower. 10' in five years. Sun/part shade.
