Acer palmatum Pixie is like a miniature version of the Japanese maple Bloodgood. Pixie is a very nice red leaf dwarf maple that has leaves very similar to Bloodgood in that they are a bright red in spring gradually changing to deep red throughout the summer and bright scarlet in autumn. Pixie is one of Mendocino Maples favorite red leafed Japanese maples.
Pixie will grow to about 6 -7 feet high and about 6-7 feet wide in 10 years. Pixie can handle a lot of sun but give afternoon shade in real hot climates. Pixie is cold hardy and can handle down to -15° F. Best suited for zones 5-9.

Little Gem is a wonderful Acer circinatum dwarf. Little Gem is a dwarf vine maple that was discovered as a witches broom in a vine maple. The Little Gem maple grows into a compact rounded shrub to about 3 feet high. Little Gem has small orbicular leaves about 1" in size which emerge light green in spring and turn to a darker shade by summer. Fall color is orange turning to fiery red.
