In Spring the wispy raceme clusters of bright red stamens from the flowers hang down from the branches like ornaments on a Christmas tree. Leaves emerge in the Spring with a purplish color – hence the name violaceum. Orange and red colors in the Fall. Grows rapidly to 20+ feet. Hardy to -10°.
