Brandt's Dwarf

Brandt’s Dwarf is one of the oldest Acer palmatum red dwarf maples derived from a witches’ broom of atropurpureum. The leaves emerge in the Spring bright purple-red and then deepen to a blood red in the Summer. Later in the season the leaves fade to a rusty green color. At maturity Brandt’s dwarf will reach about 3 feet high and about the same in width. Brandt’s dwarf habit is a dense rounded shrub. The fall color is bright scarlet red. This is a hardy dwarf variety.
