Acer tegmentosum Joe Witt
Acer tegementosum Joe Witt is a species of Snakebark Maple with beautiful white striations on the green trunk and limbs. Joe Witt tends to have a whiter bark than most of the other snakebark maples with the bark sometimes turning almost completely white. This snake bark cultivar also has the largest leaves of all snakebarks which turn a buttery yellow in autumn. Prefers a partially shaded site. Grows to about 20′. Very cold hardy. Joe Witt was a curator at the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle and its winter garden was named for him.
