Seigen

Seigen is a highly sought after, small-leaved, delicate-looking plant with impressive scarlet-red color in the spring. Leaves change to a blend of green and bronze in summer. Fall color comes through with a mixture of bright orange-yellow.

Plant is similar to Shindesojo but with more red in the spring, and is perhaps less susceptible to powdery mildew. Leaves often have Fu (speckled variegation). Popular bonsai plant. If planted in the landscape, Seigen will grow to 10 feet by 7 feet wide in eight years. Sun/ part shade.
