Dwarf Japanese maples are slow-growing or compact trees which mature at about six to eight feet depending on the cultivar. In general, dwarfs have small leaves, short internodes and profuse branching. Dwarf maples are great for areas in the landscape where space is limited. Dwarf maples are often used for bonsai and rock gardens and they are great for containers.

Acer circinatum Burgundy Jewel is a wonderful small tree or shrub. The unique charateristic of this vine maple cultivar is that it has purple-red leaves which hold their color well throughout summer, especially in full sun. In fact, Burgundy Jewel holds its' color best when placed in full sun! Fall colors range from brilliant orange to scarlet red. Burgundy Jewel will grow to about 6' tall x 4' wide in 10 years. Calico
Calico is strong growing palmatum that is similar to Katsura but much smaller in scale. Calico emerges bright orange yellow in the spring and then leaves turn to a pleasing lime green in the summer.
