Abigail Rose

Abigail Rose is a wonderful dwarf Acer palmatum with variegated, delicate reticulated leaves similar to Alpenweiss or Higasayama. The main difference is that Abigail Rose stays under 5 feet in height and is considered a dwarf variety with slender, twiggy growth habit. Many leaves do not have variegation when young but as the tree matures more variegation develops. Spring color is a showy display of pinks and reds, while fall color displays brilliant orange and yellow.

This variety, like many of the highly variegated maples can be susceptible to powdery mildew and needs to be placed where there is good airflow. Does best in morning sun afternoon shade, an ideal tree for containers and areas with warmer, dry weather. Max growth in 12 years- 5 feet tall by 10 feet wide. Great bonsai option. Best suited for zones 6-9.
