Acer Circinatum
Acer circinatum is a wonderful native maple found growing throughout the Pacific Northwestern United States. It is know commonly as the vine maple for its open and airy habit that give it a vine-like appearance, (not actually a vine). It will form a small to medium-sized tree to about 15′. It is quite graceful and has wonderful fall color. Fall color of the vine maple will bring to your landscape leaves of yellow, orange and flaming reds.
In sunny locations Acer circinatum will bronze out nicely with red color on its’ leaves. It is fairly drought tolerant – but can often be found along side of creeks and streams. Acer circinatum is hardy and can handle temperatures down to -10° F. Best suited for zones 5-8.
