Acer palmatum 'Mayday' (Mayday Japanese Maple)
A spectacular, highly sought-after dwarf selection, 'Mayday' is a true living sculpture that brings multi-season drama to small spaces, containers, and rock gardens.

  • Artistic Growth Habit: Ultra-short internodes create dense, overlapping, "shingled" layers of foliage for an instant bonsai-like, architectural look.
  • Breathtaking Spring Color: Emerges in early spring with a stunning palette of peach, soft pink, and bright golden-yellow.
  • Summer & Fall Interest: Spring pastels transition to a refreshing light chartreuse green in summer, followed by a brilliant orange-red finale in autumn.
  • Perfect for Containers: Slow growth rate makes it an ideal, low-maintenance choice for patio pots, small courtyards, and focal entryways.
Plant Specifications

  • Mature Size: 3–5 feet tall and wide (reaches ~3 feet in 10 years).
  • Light Requirements: Morning sun with afternoon shade (partial shade).
  • Hardiness: USDA Zones 5–9.
  • Soil: Moist, rich, organic, and exceptionally well-drained.

Tree arrived to Texas in excellent condition , nicely packaged, and good size. I was really impressed with the customer service from Madia, I emailed with a website issue and she replied really quickly and I was able to place my order for a few rare maple. They also held my order for 6 weeks because of a heat wave! I will definitely order again from Mendocino Maples.
