Red Dragon
Acer palmatum Red Dragon holds it’s deep purple-red color in shade better than any other red dissectum. Habit and form is similar to other dissectum palmatums, perhaps slower growing than the most vigorous red dissectums. Red Dragon emerges in the spring bright scarlet in color, becoming rich burgundy in summer, turning to fiery red in the fall.
Growth habit is like a dwarf form of Crimson Queen, reaching 6 feet in 10-15 years. Excellent small garden, rock garden or bonsai plant. Sun/part shade, or zones 5-9.
